WISH TO TRAVEL REWARDED

Christchurch Man Wins £lOOO A Christchurch research chemist, Mr T. A. Mitchell, has won the £lOOO first prize in a national “win a wish” competition by expressing the wish to collect personally 10 blocks of chocolate in New York, London, Paris, Rome, Delhi, Singapore, Hong Kong,' Sydney, San Francisco and Auckland. Mr Mitchell, who is married with three children, did not tell his wife he had entered in the competition until after the result was announced. Women formed a high percentage of the 83.000 entries in the competition, which was organised by Cadbury Fry, Hudson, Ltd., but only 200 of the entrants passed the first test, which was filling in missing words on the entry form. This made the task of the three judges—Sir Leonard Wright, Mrs H. J. Ryburn, Dominion president of the Plunket Society, and Mr B. Sutcliffe—much easier. Mr Mitchell said last evening that the £lOOO would not be used to carry out his winning wish but would be spent on payments on his car and on his family, though ultimately some of the money would be used for a trip overseas. t
