Y.M.C.A. Camp At Kairaki

The Young Men’s Christian Association hopes to establish a permanent camp at Kairaki beach, possibly beyond the end of Beach road. Representatives of the Y.M.C.A. recently in- ■ spected this area with members ' of the Kaiapoi Borough Council’s reserves committee. The Y.M.C.A. envisaged a longterm lease of about five acres, on which a camp would be established, it was reported. The intention was to build ablution I blocks, toilets, sink a well, and provide septic tanks. Reporting on the inspection, Cr. i R. Monk said that there were many “technicalities" involved in the project, and it would be “a long-term one.”
