FAULT FOUND IN ELECTRA

Flight Delayed To Today

Fifty-eight passengers booked on yesterday’s T.E.A.L. Electra flight to Melbourne spent last night in Christchurch hotels and other accommodation while a faulty hydraulic pump on the aircraft was replaced. The aircraft will leave for Australia at 7 a.m. today—l 7 hours late.

Bad weather on the Tasman crossing yesterday afternoon delayed the aircraft’s arrival in Christchurch till 3.37 p.m.—about half an hour later than schedule. It was due to return to Melbourne at 4 p.m. but trouble was found in an hydraulic pump and the aircraft was grounded while mechanics worked through the night to replace the faulty part. The Electra is expected to return to Christchurch this afternoon about one hour late.
