PARLIAMENT’S DIARY
After formal business yesterday afternoon Parliament discussed Ministerial replies to written questions, of which 53 were available on on a Supplementary Order Paper. Formal business included the asking of six questions and the tabling of papers comprising the annual reports of the Valuation Department, the Government Superannuation . Fund, the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, the Reserve Bank, and the general managers of the State Fire Insurance Office and the Accident Insurance Branch. Four days’ leave of absence was granted to Mr R. M. Algie (Opposition, Remuera) and three days’ leave to the Minister, of Internal Affairs (Mr Anderton), both because of illness. In the evening the House continued the Budget debate, the speakers being: Opposition: Messrs J. T. Watts (Fendalton) and G. A. Walsh (Tauranga). Government: The Minister of Customs (Mr Boord).
The House rose at 10.30 p.m. until 2.30 p.m. today.
