COMMENDATION OF CONSTABLE

Disarmed Youth On Bridge Catwalk (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 18. The bravery of Constable Ken Jones, aged 23, of Auckland, who disarmed a youth wielding a knife on a catwalk under the harbour bridge last May, has been officially recognised by the Commissioner of Police (Mr W. S. Brown). A commendation from the Commissioner is printed in the latest issue of the “Police Gazette.” It reads: "Constable K. M. Jones, of the Auckland Police, is commended for his prompt and courageous action in disarming and arresting a mentally unstable person behaving in a threatening manner with a knife.”
