TAX EXEMPTION PROPOSALS

Minister’s Reply To Chambers (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 18. Income tax exemptions for life insurance premiums and for superannuation funds for selfemployed persons have recently been the subject of representations by the Associated Chambers of Commerce to the Minister of Finance (Mr Nordmeyer). The chambers suggest that the present maximum figure of £175 allowable for life insurance premiums be increased to £3OO in keeping with the decline in the value of money, and that the exemption for retirement provisions for self-employed persons be increased from £250 to £4OO.

The Wellington Chamber of Commerce has been advised that Mr Nordmeyer, in replying to the suggestions, said they would receive every consideration.
