“KID GLOVE HANDLING”

Car Conversion Penalties

(New Zeal ana Press Association) WANGANUI, July 18. “I think the Justice Department has just handled the whole problem of car conversion with kid gloves—they seem to want their customers to keep coming back,” said Mr D. P. Hayes, a' an executive meeting of the Automobile Association (Wanganui) tonight. “The whole thing is ridiculous.” The executive was discussing a letter from the South Island Motor Union expressing the union’s opinion that present penalties for car conversion were inadequate, a view with which Wanganui members agreed. “We should really go for this one,” said Mr S. G. Whittali. “It’s theft. I think the word conversion is just stupid.”
