N.Z. BRASS BANDS’ ASSOCIATION
Training School For
Conductors
The introduction of a conductors’ training school and the establishment of a national music Library were decided on at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Brass Bands’ Association in Christchuieh. It was also decided to provide for financial ballots each month, to continue the junior educational school for players, and to provide additional contest prizemoney.
The association agreed to the continuation of the judging system employed for the first time at the national contests last year. In future the champion band will be decided by the aggregation of the musical points for the selection, hymn and quickstep.
The basis for computing .tbe points for toe time-keeper oti toe quickstep was also altered. national contest will be Held early in March next year. f - •„ Officers elected were: PresiddM, Mir R E. Belgrave (Palmerston North); vice-presidents, Messrs J. S. Waterston (Dimedin), and J. C. King (Wellington); management committee,' Messrs J. F. Allen, N. G. Goffin. E. Ormrod (Wellington), R. Simpson (Christchurch), M. Blackie (Timaru) and H. Lindsay (Invercargill).
