PITLOCHRY DESTROYED

Pitlochry, which was badly injured in a schooling accident at Washdyke early last week, was destroyed on Tuesday after he had failed to recover from an operation At the time of his accident Pitlochry was being prepared for a cross-country campaign at the Wellington winter meeting and at Riccarton next month. Pitlochry, which was owned by Mr W. A. Grant, of Fairlie. was a seven-year-old gelding by . Callander from Peel Tower, a daughter of Irish Lancer and Palantua. He did his early racing for Mr W. E. Hazlett, of Invercargill, but was purchased by Mr Grant for 475gns at the Chelandry Stud dispersal sale in February, 1958. Pitlochry won steeplechases at Oamaru, Ashburton, Washdyke. and Riccarton during his winter campaign last year.
