Weight-Lifting Komene Breaks Three N.Z. Records

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. July 3. Breaking New Zealand weightlifting records is a matter of habit with J. Komene, but on Saturday he excelled himself. He broke two national records and also lifted the highest total by a New Zealand middle-heavy-weight lifter. The first record to go was the twohands snatch. He added 101 b to the 2401 b record and went very close to 2601 b. Then he raised the clean-and-jerk from 3291 b to 3341 b. and went within a fraction of lifting 3501 b clean. Komene’s total was 8451 b.
