J. McDougall, considered one of the greatest goal-keepers ever to have played soccer for New Zealand, died recently in i Christchurch. He first represented .Canterbury in 1924 and I was a regular member of the team until he transferred to Otago some years later. McDougall was first “capped” for New Zealand in 1927, and played in the four tests against the touring Canadian team that year. ■ * At the annual meeting of the Rakaia Bowling Club, Mr 3. R. Smith was honoured by being

elected a life mpmber. Mr Smith has been the local delegate for the club on the C h r istchurch Bowling Centre since 1938, and in 1950 he was made patron of the club.

H. Jackson, has been transferred from Dunedin to Christchurch. Mr Jackson is a presidential nominee at this year’s annual meeting of the national association to be held in Wellington next month.
