B. Masters, the 16-year-old inside-right or centre-forward with the New South Wales junior soccer team which toured New Zealand in May, has been signed by the Prague Soccer Club in Sydney to be groomed into a worldclass player, and so show that Australia has talent in this sport. An apprentice electrician, Masters will be coached by two former Austrian internationals, set up in business when he is 21, and sent on a trip to Europe for experience If necessary. Masters played centre-for-ward for New South Wales against the Canterbury junior team and was the outstanding forward in his team’s 6-5 win.

The Canterbury and Nomads centre-half, D. Simmonds, has shown marked improvement in his play since his representative appearances at soccer this season. Against Wellington at Queen’s Birthday weekend, Simmonds, who is of ideal stature for his position, was a little slow and none too sure in his kicking, but already he has begun to command any defence in which he appears. In last week’s match for Nomads he looked as it he could have contained the Shamrock attack on his own. '

The former Christchurch and Central Districts rightarm leg-spin bowler, D. Currie, has been transferred from Nelson to Timaru\and thus will be available for the Canterbury Plunket Shield team next season. In the five; shield games for Central Dis-' tricts he took 24 wickets and impressed the Australian team when he played against them. His best performance when playing for Old Boys in Christchurch senior cricket was five, for 8 against East Christchurch in the 1952-53 " season.
