Although the goal posts have eluded D. B. Clarke quite frequently on New Zealand’s tour of South Africa, there is every likelihood that before the tour is half over, he will have achieved what no other man in Rugby history has done scored 1000 first-class points. Since he entered first-class Rugby in 1951. he has scored 971 points. He has scored IS tries, made 196 conversions kicked' 166 penalty goals, 10 goals and a goal from a mark. This feat is even mere noteworthy in that during the 1952 and 1955 seasons he did not play because of a knee Injury.
