POLITICAL TALKS IN PAPUA
Visit By Minister For Territories (W.Z. Press Association—Copyright) PORT MORESBY. June 30. The Australian Minister for Territories (Mr Paul Hasluck) will make a five-day visit to Papua. New Guinea, in the second week of July for talks on the territory’s political development, the Assistant Administrator (Dr. J. T. Gunther) announced in Port Moresby today. ' ■’ Dr. Gunther said the Minister was coming to the territory solely for discussions with European and native representatives on political development in Papua and New Guinea. Mr Hasluck announced in Canberra recently that legislation increasing native representation on the territory’s Legislative Council probably would be introduced in the next Parliamentary session. The present native representation on the 29-member council is limited to three Governmentnominated members.
