OUT OF TOUCH IN NEW YORK

CNew Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 1. While South Africa celebrates and New Zealand mourns, New York apparently has hardly heard of Rugby football, let alone the first test. The following is the diary of a frustrated New Zealander in New York trying to find the result of the match. Sunday night: The “New York-Times” did not know. Monday morning: The New Zealand Consulate said they would know—after 'hey received the New Zealand newspapers on Wednesday. Monday morning: The New York newspapers still did not know, Monday afternoon: South Africa House said they would know after they finished listening to the South Africa shortwave broadcast. Monday evening: South Africa House jubilantly reported: “We won. Maybe it will be your turn next.”
