Sununit Conference

Sir, —Ralph S. Wheeler, being ignorant of conditions in the Baltic States before and after their “deliverance” from democratic government by Communist imperialism—which the volunteer armies of these countries resisted because the benefits so generously bulldozed out to them were already well known to these "slaves” of freedom from an earlier stretch of Russian despotism—takes it upon himself to express their collective "happiness” under present conditions. May I respectfully suggest that, before delighting us with another cqlumn of naive irrelevance, Mr Wheeler pays a visit to this “paradise” and there attempts to relieve his political frustration. But he must strike out the word “freedom” from his vocabulary—freedom of action, word and thought. Such democratic evils are not tolerated in “paradise.”—Yours, etc., A LATVIAN WHO CHOSE FREEDOM. June 29, 1960.
