Gas Turbine Bus

Russia’s first gas turbine engine for use on the road is reported to be undergoing teats. The engine is to be adapted for use in intercity buses. After 3000 miles of operation, the test vehicle is claimed to have reached average speeds of 50 to 60 miles an hour and a top speed of 100 miles an hour. The gas turbine usually runs on kerosene, but the Russian unit has worked well on petrol and standard diesel fuel. Even more important for Russian conditions, the gas turbine is not affected by very low temperatures, and starts easily under all operating conditions.
