Nash Plant For Malta

Nash Ramblers will be built in Malta by the end of the year under an agreement reached between American Motors Corporation and a Maltese firm. The firm, Rambler Automobile Assembly, Ltd.. of Mana. Malta will assemble Ramblers for distribution in certain areas of Africa and the Middle East. The plant, now under construction, will have an annual capacity of 6000 cars, and provisions have been made for (future expansion. There will be 110,000 square feet of factory floor space plus an administration building and a test track. Not only will this be the first automobile plant in Malta, but it will be the Island’s first heavy manufacturing venture. The independently operated Malta plant will assemble cars from components shipped from American Motor’s plant in Kenosha, but every effort will be made by the Maltese company to encourage local manufacture of parts.
