Boxing RETURN FIGHT LAST BOUT

Johansson Says He Will Retire (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright# COPENHAGEN, June 29. The defeated world heavyweight champion, Ingemar Johansson, thumped a table with his fist and said in Copenhagen yesterday that his return bout with Floyd Patterson would be his last fight, reports British United Press. “The bout in October will definitely be my last appearance in the ring,” he said, “regardless of whether I am the loser or the winner.”

Of his defeat by Patterson, Johansson said: “Floyd was livelier and I was weaker, that’s it. I felt exceptionally out of form throughout the fight, but it was a lesson to me.”
