SECOND PHASE OF ARMY EXERCISE
Cabinet Ministers To Attend
(Neu Zeaiana Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 24. The second phase of "Exercise Waireka.” simulating tht New Zealand Army's part in any South-east Asian emergency, will be< held at Burnham from July 1 to July 3. and will be watched by three members of Cabinet
The aim is to study operation* that could eventuate, particularly in the support of civil governments against insurgency. Opportunity will also be taken to study overseas trends in tactical doctrines and organisation. The Ministers at this Chief of Staff’s annual exercise will be the Deputy Prime Minister (Mr Skinner), the Minister of Defence (Mr Connolly) and the Minister of Customs (Mr Boord). Senior officers from the Far East Land Forces, military attache* and officers, as well as all members of the Army Board will also attend.
The second phase of the exercise is for senior officers of the Regular Force, the Territorial Force and other service observer* Phase one, for junior officers, took place this week.
