Eichmann Case To Go Before U.N.

(Rec. 11.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, June 22. Argentina today pressed her complaint against Israel in the Eichmann case to the United Nations Security Council, spurning suggestions for postponement of a debate pending the outcome of direct talks between the leaders of tl

e two nations.

Israel formally denied the 11member council’s competence to take up the question and asserted that it should be settled by direct negotiation. An Israeli delegation letter delivered late last night to the council president. Dr. Tingfu Tsiang, of Nationalist China, said Argentina’s President, Dr. Arturo Frondizi, and Israel’s Prime Minister, Mr David Ben-Gurion, had arranged to meet in Europe “later this week.”

Diplomatic quarters said that it seemed virtually certain, therefore, that the council today would hear only from Argentina’s delegate, Dr. Mario Amadeo, and the Israeli Foreign Minister, Mrs Golda Meir, before adjourning to await results from the promised “summit” talks. The council scheduled a session for 10.30 a.m. when Dr. Amadeo was due to lay down his Government’s charge that Israel violated Argentine sovereignty in the seizure in Buenos Aires and transfer “illicitly and clandestinely” of Adolf Eichmann, the former Gestapo colonel accused of responsibility for the massacre of six million European Jews Authoritative Argentine sources, who said they had received no official word that Dr. Frondizi and Mr Ben-Gurion had arranged a meeting, told Reuters that their Government's case would be presented in “mild and conciliatory” terms.

They said that Dr. Amadeo planned to speak for about 40 minutes and would introduce a formal resolution. The form of this document was not disclosed officially, but the sources said it would not repeat Argentina’s demand for the return of Eichmann

Other informants said they understood the draft would have the council declare that Israel had violated Argentine national sovereignty and should make “reparation” without delay.
