Surprise Arrest Of Woman

Detectives today arrested and charged with murder the mother of a man who is serving a life sentence for murder. The woman, Mrs Enid Pressler, aged 52, was charged with having murdered her brother-in-law, Henry Edward Pressler, aged 66, on June 7. Her son, Neville William Pressler, aged 30, was convicted last July for the murder of a young woman. The woman, Marjorie Golchert, aged 30, and her husband, were both killed on a farm at Kalkie, near Bundaberg, 260 miles north of Brisbane. Since the death of Henry Pressler—found shot dead in Mrs Pressler’s house-r Neville Pressler has petitioned the Govemor-in-Coun-cil for a Royal pardon. After the body of Henry Pressler was discovered in Mrs Pressler’s Bundaberg home, p lawyer was handed a document purporting to be a confession by Henry Pressler to the killings at Kalkie last year.
In a dramatic new move detectives today questioned Mrs Pressler for an hour at her house. She was then taken in a black police sedan to the Bundaberg police station and charged with the murder of Henry Pressler in the same police station where her son was arrested last July for the Kalkie murder.
Mrs Pressler was to have appeared in the Bundaberg Police Court later today. Her son, Neville, was convicted of the murder of Marjorie Golchert on November 6 last year. His appeal to the Criminal Appeals Court failed. The High Court last Thursday adjburned -indefinitely on application by Pressler for leave to appeal. In the last few days newspapers reported that handwriting police have been examining the confession purporting to have been made by ms uncle, Henry Pressler.
