The burly American, Barry Mackay made a rare breach of the rules during his match with the Spaniard, Luis Arilla, at Wimbledon today. Mackay ran up court to reach a stop volley, could not check his run and jumped the net This broke rule 18 which says a player loses the point if he touches his opponent’s court. The crowd roared as Mackay stood by Arilla’s side and watched the Spaniard lob into the empty court. Mackay won the match 6-2, 6-4, 7-5.
