E.F.A. CHALLENGE TROPHY
Council To Reconsider
Basis
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. June 21.
A suggestion that the English Football Association Challenge Trophy be run on similar lines to the Plunket Shield cricket competition was made by Mr O. Hilton to a meeting of the New Zealand Football Association's council in. Wellington tonight. Mr Hilton said the present basis of competition was "not exactly successful." and there appeared some merit' in the Plunket Shield system, where all provinces had set fixtures, a proportion of home-and-away matches, and a points system. Mr Hilton suggested the national body make a firm proposal and put it to delegates at the annual 'meeting next year. The council agreed to do this.
