TRAIN SMASH AT BELFAST

Inquiry Board To Sit (From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, June 21. A railways inquiry board, to be set up under the provisions of the Government Railways Act, will investigate the cause of the recent main line collision a’ Belfast. The General Manager of Railways (Mr A. T. Gandell) said today that from his examination of the reports he was substantially satisfied as to the cause of the collision, but there were some aspects which he considered warranted further examination and this could best be done by an inquiry board comprising senior officers and representatives of the staff.

The personnel of the board is now being decided, and after receiving its findings Mr Gandell will make a full report on the collision to the Minister of Railways (Mr Moohan).
