(New Zntuna Association/ WELLINGTON, June 21. Mr G. Thorn, of Dunedin, was appointed assistant manager of the New Zealand Olympic Games team for Rome at tonight’s meeting of the Olympic and British Empire Games Association. Mr Thorn was nominated by the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association. He is a past-presi-dent of that body, convener of the national selectors, and has served as an executive member of the Otago Rowing Association for more than 30 years. He was sectional manager of the rowing crew at the Empire Games at Cardiff. He has been a rowing coach for 20 years and he received an international umpiring licence at the 1956 Olympic Games at Melbourne. „ „ . . An offer by Mr S. V. Parris, of Dunedin, to act as physiotherapist to the team in Rome was accepted.
