Light Artillery Regiment

(From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, June 21. Lieutenant-Colonel J. D. Mercier, commanding officer of the sth Light Regiment, who sent in his papers in protest against a decision to postpone a Sunday shoot on a suburban rifle range ■at Invercargill, has been relieved of his command and placed on the Reserve of Officers.

It is understood that Major W. P. Adank, who has been acting commanding officer of the regiment, will be confirmed in his appointment

The Minister of Defence (Mr Connolly) said tonight that as the matter was purely an Army staff one. he had no comment to make.
