FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An extensive depression covering New Zealand is moving very slowly eastwards. Forecast:— Canterbury.—Moderate to fresh southerlies; dull and cold with rain, heavy at times in North Canterbury. Outlook: some occasional rain gradually becoming lighter. West Coast.—Moderate easterlies, cloudy and cool; some showers in the ranges. Outlook: fine. Nelson.—Fresh south-easterlies outside Tasman Bay, light winds elsewhere; cloudy and cool; some scattered light rain. Outlook: changeable with isolated showers but clearing later. Marlborough.—Southerly winds fresh to strong on the coast, but mainly light inland; cloudy to overcast and cool; occasional rain, heavy at times on the coast. Outlook: scattered rain chiefly on the coast and becoming lighter.
