Clark McConachy Plays Well

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) „ BRISBANE, June 17. Clark McConachy, the veteran New Zealand snooker professional, stole the limelight from the English star. Fred Davis, in a world open snooker championship match here last night Davis won five frames to three but 65-year-old McConachy captured the imagination of the large crowd with a plucky fight againsi the world’s leading player. The applause for the three frames he won was the loudest of the tournament, but was not as loud as the roar which greeted his brilliani 87 break in the third game. Davis won. 107-8. 69-22, 40-91, 7837, 39-89, 90-31, 42-96. 74-17 and is unbeaten in the championship. He will play his final match tonight against Norman Squire, of Australia, but already has won the title.
