£142 LOSS FOR YEAR

Banks Peninsula - Club

"It was unfortunate that . your committee found it necessary to reduce the stakes this year but, now that the totallsator turnover is showing an upward trend, it should not be long before the club will be in a position to make good this reduction,'* says the president, Mr I. C. Gray, in his annual report w hiq/i will be presented at the annual general meeting of the Banks Peninsula Racing Club on June 25. The club's accounts record a loss of £142 on the year’s operations. Last year there was a loss of £334. The club had. been fortunate, says the report, to show an increase in both on and off-course totalisator turnovers for the year. The on-course total had risen from £51,160 to £57,733 and offcourse from £55,785 to £75,728. The increase in turnover would reflect in the club’s share of profit from the Totalisator Agency Board this year. In his report Mr Gray refers to the deaths during the year of Messrs Ken Austin, T. Brankin, H. N. K. Nedham, H. S. Sparkes, and F. W. White. The club provided £4350 in stakes and paid £6280 in Government taxes. Totalisator income was £9806 and the club received £2032 from the T.A.B.
