NEW CINEMA FOR CITY
Redecoration At St. James The St. James' Theatre in Tuam street, which was closed to the public last Thursday, will be reopened as the Odeon—a completely refurnished and redecorated cinema, with equipment capably of projecting films of any width— l ™ approximately three months’ time. A contract was let by Kerridge Odeon, Ltd., to the Williamson Construction Company, and the major job of reconstruction began last Friday morning. “AH the theatre’s seating has been removed and structural alterations are now under way,” said the manager of the Majestic Theatre (Mr C. Ward) on behalf of Kerridge Odeon.
New lounges and amenities will be provided and the equipment to be installed comprises multipurpose projectors with magnetic six-track sound relayed through 21 speakers. A large curved screen is to be installed, and when the theatre reopens it will screen 70 millimetre films, including the new techniques, said Mr Ward last night. The St James* ceased to be a cinema about two years ago.
