TWO DOGS ATTACK SHEEP
Alsatian Shot By
Police (New Zealand Press Association) NAPIER, June 15. A dog was shot dead and another escaped after they were seen savaging sheep in a paddock near Riverbend road, between Napier and Meeanee, this morning. The dogs’ attack took place on a property owned by Mr G. T. Guthrie, of Clive, and Mr S. J. Parsons, of Eskdale. Mr P. I. H. Ensor, a market gardener whose house adjoins the paddock, saw the attacking dogs and called the police. Three Napier constables were soon on the scene. Armed with rifles, they chased the dogs, an Alsatian and a pig dog. The Alsatian was killed but the pig dog escaped. The police are investigating to find the pig dog’s owner. Several sheep were killed by the dogs. Others may have to be destroyed.
