Christchurch Fours Contest Final (From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH. June 6. The South Island indoor bowling championship tournament was concluded in Greymoutli this aftersoon. The winners of the pairs were L. Hamilton and W. Craw, of the Springston South Club, who beat Mrs J. Wagenaar and J. Hillier, of the Greymouth Workingmen’s Club. 1 by 22 points to 12. The fours championship was contested bv two teams from the St. Martins ‘club, Christchurch, in the final. Mrs Logan. J. Woods. J. Simpson and T. Logan beat Mrs E. Horne, Mrs J. Loose. Miss F. Honey and Mrs A. Anderson, by 18 points to 12.
The standard of play throughout! the three days of the tournament has. been particularly high. A good indication of this was the fact that last year’s winners of the pairs, F. Bearne and N. Hocking, and fours, R. Lawson, W. Hayward. J. Pycroft and V. Marshall, all from Canterbury, failed to qualify for postsection play. The badges and trophies were presented to the winners by Mr G. Jolly, of Wellington, who is president of the New Zealand Indoor Bowls Association. He complimented the Greymouth association upon the efficient manner in which it had conducted the tournament.
