Poverty Bay Beats East Coast
(New Zealand Press Association) GISBORNE, June 6. A crowd of nearly 4000 at Rugby Park, Gisborne, this afternoon saw Poverty Bay beat East Coast. 8-6. Poverty Bay led, 5-3, at half-time.
The spirited Poverty Bay pack paved the way for Poverty Bay’s victory. The home forwards combined well in the tight and loose, led by the captain, A. G. Rowlands. with H. Lardelli, W. Atkins, B. Fee and D. Green backing him well.
The new half-back, C. G. Henderson, gave the backs splendid service.
For Poverty Bay, D. Green scored a try which. J Hata converted. and G. Rogers kicked a field For East Coast, J. Reedy scored a try and K. Karaka kicked a penalty goal.
