SECRETARY TO BALLERINA
Wellington Girl’s Position “The Press' Special Service WELLINGTON, June 6. A position as private secretary to the famous ballerina, Dame Margot Fonteyn, is waiting for a Wellington girl, Miss Beverley Symons, when she leaves New Zealand late this month. Miss Symons, who is a keen follower of ballet, and an admirer of Dame Margot, met her during her recent visit to New Zealand. Miss Symons has since kept up a correspondence with Dame Margot, and in January of this year she received an offer to succeed Dame Margot’s private secretary, who was retiring from the position. Miss Symons’s interest in dancing does not end with ballet, for she and her partner, Mr L. Smith, of Wellington, are dance champions in their own right, and hold the present New Zealand Latin-American championship. Last September, Miss Symons and Mr Smith defeated leading amateur dancers of New South Wales in a special Latin-Ameri-can challenge competition held at the huge Trocadero ballroom, Sydney.
