Two Men Charged With Assault
Charged jointly with assaulting Aubrey Piner, assistant theatre manager, outside the St. James’ Theatre on Saturday night, George Robert Parore, aged 23. and Peter James Brown, aged 19, both workmen, were remanded to June 9 when they appeared in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Parore was also charged with carrying an offensive weapon—a spring-loaded knife. Messrs C. B. Phillips and R. W. Gormack, Justices of the Peace, allowed each accused bail at £5O and one surety of £5O. Walter Allan Barber, aged 19, was charged with using obscene language, and assaulting and resisting a constable in the lawful execution of his duty. Harold John Beams, agel 19, was charged with obstructing a constable in the lawful execution of his duty.
Both accused were remanded to June 9, bail being granted in each case at £5O with one surety of £5O.
