COMMERCIAL Prices Rise In Record Day’s Trading

J n -, a record day s trading on the Christchurch St<xk Exchange yesterday, 13,000 shares and rights and £lOOO of Government stock changed hands. Prices were again buoyant and rises exceeded falls by 17 to 4.

Fai rier-Vy aimak, for the first time in the company s four-year history, rose above par. New Zealand Breweries continued to rise, but profit-taking brought Ballins Industries back to 14s 6d. Dominion Breweries made a 2s 9d gain in three days to sell at 82s 9d.

• . Zealand Refrigerating were 9d up on latest. Christchurch business, but 3d below the price paid in intervening sales elsewhere. South British Insurance were firmer but National Insurance eased. Canterbury Frozen Meat, New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative B preference, Newton King bonus issue, Alliance Woollens, Charles Begg, D.1.C., EZ In?v S i £°J eS ’ Forest Products, Waltons and Woolworths (N.Z.) rights were firmer.

Tasman and Woolworths sold at lower prices.
