COMMENT BY EDEN
‘Rougher Weather Ahead’ LONDON, May 31. Sir Anthony Eden, the former British Prime Minister, said last night that one of the lessons of the failure of the summit conference should be to expect “rougher weather.” He was being interviewed for television at his home in Wiltshire. Asked later to be more specific about what he saw ahead as “rougher weather,” Sir Anthony Eden described the Communist Powers as “unpredictable.” He added: “You may have pressure in the Far East, you may have pressure in the Middle East, you may have pressure in Africa: yes, they may develop anywhere, there may be more pressure in the Caribbean.” This, Sir Anthony Eden said, should be accepted as a likely state of affairs and “we ought to . . . order our own business accordingly.” He added: “That is to say, improve our own unity and our own preparations and our own efforts together, starting with NATO”
