TRUST HOTEL AT HORNBY
Building Plan To Proceed
The Hornby Licensing Trust has received the "green light” from the Government to go ahead with its plans for building a trust hotel in Hornby, and Mr J. N. Mcßride, chairman of the interim trust, hopes that before this year is ended the building of the hotel will be under way. The trust, which was formed a little over a year ago, is a local trust, and as such has had to comply with more legal requirements and formalities than the district trusts already set up in various parts of the country. But all the requirements have now been met and the Government has given its sanction to the proposed methods of raising the finance necessary for the hotel. It has been estimated by the trust that it will need about £60,000 for its complete scheme, with the land and building costing about £43,000. An option is held on an area of land of two acres and a half behind the new Hornby shopping block, and now that the trust has been given authority it will continue the negotiations for purchase.
Tentative plans for the buildings were approved some time ago by the trust. They can now be translated into working plans and drawings so that in a few months the trust can call tenders for the work.
Local debentures will probably be called up to provide the finance, but the trust has now assured the Government that sufficient money is in hand to commence the scheme.
To discuss the latest positive developments and the plans for the building, the trust will meet tomorrow morning.
