Auckland Anniversary

Auckland will be 120 years old on September 18. To mark the occasion, the Auckland Public Relations Office plans to hold a festival from September 12 to 18. On September 18, 1840, when possession was formally taken of the site of Auckland, the occasion was marked by the unfurling of a Union Jack on a flagstaff placed bn the headland which later became known at Point Britomart.
