BOTTLING OF MILK
Board’s J»«dicy Reconsidered J The policy of the board, that all. milk should be 'bottled wherever possible had to be considered in relation to the reasonable requirements of their customers, said the sbrth annual report of the New Zealand Milk Board The action nf mft milk treatment station wishing to put al! its milk into pint bottles, including that by bulk purchasers such as. hotels, milk bars and Army camps, had caused the board to consider the position more closely. It had now been decided by the board that pasteurised milk should be subject to as little postpasteurisation contamination as possible, and therefore should be sold in sealed containers where practicable. At the same time the board realised that certain purchasers required milk in bulk and that there should be a gradual progress towards an improved delivery to those purchasers rather than an immediate authoritative action. In the meantime the treatment stations should put milk in can lots according to the requirements of the purchaser, and any balance of orders in bottles. There should be no breaking down of can lots by the vendors.
