Less Vandalism In Auckland
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 15.
The problem of vandalism in Auckland has been’reduced considerably in recent months. The main reasons for the improvements are police reinforcements in outlying boroughs and the help of residents in stopping damage to property, especially parks. A local body officer today gave a good deal of the credit for the improvement in behaviour to young policemen. He said they were “getting good results among the young fellows.” The Auckland City Council's parks and flower gardens, favourite targets of vandals, have suffered very little destruction in recent months, only two incidents having been reported.
