Nominations For Council

No elections will be necessary to fill seats falling vacant on the Canterbury University Council this year. When nominations closed yesterday, the rejstrar (Mr G. G. Turbott) made the following announcement concerning seats filled by various electing bodies:— Representing the GovernorGeneral: Sir Joseph Ward, reappointed. Representing district members of Parliament: the Very Rev. Martin Sullivan (sitting member) is the only nominee. Representing the Court of Convocation (graduates): Messrs C. E. Fenwick and T. H. McCombs (sitting members) are the only nominees for the two seats. Representing the Professorial Board: Professor N. C. Phillips has been nominated in place of Professor J. C. Garrett, who is going overseas. Representing primary school committees: This seat is replaced by one representing the Canterbury Education Board so Mr R. M. Young retires.
