FIRE-FIGHTING FROM THE AIR.—This is a demonstration of What can be done to save plane-crash victims with a new fire-fighting technique. A helicopter flying overhead drives the flames away from the cockpit with the down draft of the rotor blades, as firemen rescue a dummy pilot from the burning aircraft. The firemen, in protective clothing, were dropped from the helicopter. The “victim pilot” was in the helicopter within 35sec. Another 4min and he was in hospital. The demonstration took place at the Luton airport, in England.
