South African Aid Fund
Sir, —Many New Zealanders have been shocked by recent events in South Africa, and will want to give some help to victims of police-state brutality. A committee has been elected at a public meeting in Wellington to collect money and send it on to a fund of which the Bishop of Johannesburg (Rt. Rev. Dr. Ambrose Reeves) is chairman, to help relatives and dependents of men and women who have been killed, injured, or arrested. The New Zealand sponsors of the fund include Harold Miller, Richard and Edith Campion, Professor K. M. Buchanan, Professor G. E. Hughes, R. H. Brookes, Frances and George Porter, Bruce and Diana Mason, the Rev. R. Thornley, James K. Baxter, Mrs Maria Dronke, Wi Hapi Love, Hannah Martin, W. Molyneux, and the Wellington Monthly Meeting of the Society of Friends. Cheques made out to the South Africa Aid Fund should be posted to Box 5003, Wellington.—Yours, etc, HUGH PRICE, Chairman. Wellington, May 7, 1960.
