EFFICIENT USE OF CHEMICALS
Special Board Has First Meeting
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 2. | “It will be the function of the new Agricultural Chemicals Board to ensure that there is efficient use of the right chemical for the right job. and that adequate precautionary measures and directions are prescribed by manufacturers on labels for the use of their materials.” said the Minister of Agriculture (Mr Skinner) today.
The board, set up under the act passed last year, had its first meeting recently. Mr Skinner said the board’s functions extended beyond the legistration of chemical products. A more important aspect of its work was the education of all sections of the community to use agricultural chemicals with due regard to the interests of others. ‘‘Manufacturers. merchants, 'and users are all represented on the board, and I am confident that they will all work together to see that the best use is made of these newly developed preparations, and that the health and interests of the community are adequately protected,” he
