WORLD REFUGEE APPEAL

£l5O Collected By Girls’ High School

The sum of £l5O had been raised by the school pupils for the C.0.R.5.0. World Refugee Year appeal, said the headmistress (Miss R. F. C. Tyndall), at the Christchurch Girls’ High School board of governors’ meeting last night. ‘‘The response was excellent,” said Mr A. K. Petch, “and the pupils deserve the highest praise.” The board decided to sent its congratulations to the school. A request from the Post and Telegraph Department for the use of two of the school’s rooms for departmental examinations in September was approved, subject to the two prefabricated buildings being available. Officers elected at the meeting were:— Chairman, Professor R. T. Sussex; deputy-chairman, Professor W. R. Philipson: staffing committee, Mr A. N. Mackay, Mrs G. Cree; hostel committee. Mesdames C. H. Perkins. A. E. Ulenday, R. R. Beauchamp, Miss O. L. Eslick and Mr A. K. Petch.
