Decisive Win At Woodville
(New Zealand Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, May 1. High Star recorded a good trial for the Waikato Steeplechase when he decisively won the W. H. Gaisford Memorial Steeplechase, the feature event at the Woodville Jockey Club’s meeting on Saturday. High Star led over the last two miles and beat Genteel convincingly, with Brent a useful third. The T.A.B. double was won by Arid and Mama Mia and paid £726 13s 6d for £l. Racing was held in fine weather on a fast track until the seventh race, when rain set in. The last race was run in a downpour. There was a good attendance, and the totalisator handled £56,983. against £54,192 10s last year, an increase of £2790 10s. Results:—
