MATCH STOPPED AT TAIPEH
Referee Jostled By Koreans (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) TAIPEH, April 30. Today's elimination soccer match for the Asian football team to participate in the Rome Olympic Gaines this year was called off only after 35 minutes’ play. The referee, Mr John Patrick, refused to continue the match after he was jostled and elbowed by several Korean players. The incidient occurred when Mr Patrick told a Chinese player to kick a penalty goal again because the Korean players had cut in before the ball was kicked the first time. Several Korean players immediately rushed at him and Mr Patrick had to be escorted out of the field by Nationalist Chinese policemen. Korean football officials apologised for the incident, but Mr Patrick refused to continue the match. Nationalist China was then leading 1-0. Korea won the first match.
