BABY REVIVED BY FATHER

Mouth-To-Mouth Method Used (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 10. A father saved his baby son’s life using mouth-to-mouth resuscitation after the child had been found in a goldfish pond this morning. The baby, Wayne Gallagher, of Mount Wellington, had apparently crawled under the wire netting over the pond on the front lawn of his home, said his father, Mr R. H. Gallagher. The child had been missing for about 10 minutes when Mrs Gallagher found him. He was not breathing and was blue all over. Mrs Gallagher rushed inside with Wayne and gave him to her husband. * “It was a bit of a mad panic,” Mr Gallagher said. “I just did the only thing I could think of. J put my mouth over Wayne’s and started breathing into him. “I had read about this in the newspapers. It was lucky I had. You don’t realise sometimes how Important these things are.” ' The child began gasping after some minutes and when Mr V Watson, an ambulance driver, arrived, he was crying. Mr Watson further revived the child using oxygen and an aspirator. There was no doubt, Mr Watson said, that Mr Gallagher’s prompt action has saved his son’s life.
